Your diagrams stay on your Mac

Diagrams and pages are plain files in folders you choose. The app reads and writes them there and nowhere else. Rendering is done on your Mac by a PlantUML engine and Java runtime bundled inside the app, so the app never sends the contents of your diagrams to any server, including ours. The app works fully offline.

The app also keeps a small amount of working data on your Mac: the list of projects you have opened, your preferences, which tabs to reopen at next launch, and any custom icons you add to My Library. This data is stored in the app's own container in your user library and is not sent anywhere.

No account, no analytics, no tracking

• There is no sign-in and no account. The app does not know who you are.
• The app contains no analytics, usage measurement, advertising or tracking code.
• The app does not check for updates on its own. Updates come through the Mac App Store.
• The app contains no AI model and sends nothing to one.

Crash reports

If the app crashes, hangs for more than a couple of seconds, or is terminated by the system, a diagnostic report is sent to Sentry, a crash reporting service operated by Functional Software, Inc. in the United States. This is the only network traffic the app generates on its own.

A crash report contains a stack trace of the app's code, the app version, the macOS version, the Mac model, and the app's own log lines from shortly before the crash. It does not contain the contents of your diagrams, and document names are redacted from the log. We configure the crash reporter not to attach user identifiers or IP addresses, and the report is not used to identify you or to track you. We use crash reports only to find and fix bugs. Sentry retains them for up to 90 days and then deletes them.

Separately, macOS may share crash and usage data with Apple and, through Apple, with us, according to the analytics choices in your Mac's System Settings. That sharing is controlled by Apple and by your settings, not by the app.

Features that involve other services

Some features can pass your data to other services, but only when you choose to use them.

Copy as PlantUML URL

Puts a plantuml.com link on your clipboard that encodes the diagram's source. The app builds the link locally and does not contact plantuml.com. If you or someone you share it with opens the link in a browser, the diagram's source is sent to plantuml.com and plantuml.com's own privacy terms apply.

Copy for Confluence

Copies a page to your clipboard with its images inline. Nothing is sent anywhere until you paste it.

Agent Access

An optional local server that lets an AI assistant you already use, such as a coding agent on the same Mac, create and update diagrams in your workspace. It is off by default, listens only on your Mac, and requires a token the app issues to you. When it is on, the diagrams that assistant reads or writes are handled by that assistant under its own privacy terms, which you should review. Turning the feature off closes the server.

Links in your own pages

Links you write in a markdown page open in your web browser when clicked.

Permissions

The app runs in the macOS App Sandbox. It can read and write only the folders you open or create through the standard file dialogs, and it remembers those folders between launches so it can reopen them. It has no access to your camera, microphone, location, contacts, calendars or photos. Its network permissions exist for the crash reporter and for two local-only servers: the bundled rendering engine, and Agent Access when you turn it on.

Your rights

Because the app collects no personal data, there is nothing for us to give you access to, correct or delete. Crash reports cannot be linked back to you. If you are in the United Kingdom or the European Union and believe we hold personal data about you, you can ask us about it at the address below. You also have the right to complain to your data protection authority; in the UK, that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Changes

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects your data, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
